School Solar Car Challenge

A student team named the Solar Knights from South Plantation High School in Plantation, FL built a solar car and will participate in the 2010 Hunt-Winston School Solar Car Challenge. A very bright student named Daniella noticed during the building process that an Interior Concepts flip-top table mechanism would help them to complete their vehicle, so we happily donated it for their car.

A student team named the Solar Knights from South Plantation High School in Plantation, FL built a solar car and will participate in the 2010 Hunt-Winston School Solar Car Challenge. A very bright student named Daniella (front in the picture below) noticed during the building process that an Interior Concepts flip-top table mechanism would help them to complete their vehicle, so we happily donated it for their car.

An Interior Concepts representative, Toby Patterson from the Florida based Jaeger Education, worked with South Plantation High School and installed Interior Concepts flip-top tables in their school. Daniella saw the mechanism on the flip-top tables that allows the table to go from a flat to flipped position in a classroom at her school, and thought that it would be perfect for the solar car that they were building for the challenge. Daniella contacted Toby, who put her in touch with us, and we were able to donate the mechanism for their car.

The 2010 Hunt-Winston School Solar Car Challenge is meant to increase alternative energy awareness and is an over 860 mile drive from Dallas, Texas to Boulder, Colorado. The event features 22 science and engeering student teams building road worthy solar cars and begins Sunday, July 18th and ends on Sunday, July 25th.

Good luck to the South Plantation High School Solar Knights and to everyone participating in the event!South Plantation Solar Knights
